FREE SCANS

Recently I had a call from a competitor complaining that I'm offerring free scans and that's an unfair advantage and I should charge what everyone else is charging from $88 to $140.

That's just to find out what's wrong with the car.

I just hung up the phone and pressed 'Block'. A Mechanic NEEDS to carry out a scan in order to find out what is wrong with the car, then you can quote on the job. Charging for a scan is like charging you a seperate bill for using a 17mm spanner to drain your oil.

It's also called a 'Scan Tool', so it is a tool.

Some mechanics use low quailty scan tools that only give a code number like p0012, they google the code, find out what it is then quote for the job.

My choice of scan tool is the updated SnapOn Solaris that has many functions like live data, injector programming, particle filter burns and much much more. auto electricians use this same tool, and a number of Mechanics use this scan tool also.

I listen to what my customers are saying and if you look at the costs involved of paying a $180 fee to find out what's wrong is unfair.

Of course, if I have to close my shop and come to you to do a scan then yes, but it's still only 88 (including the scan) and this offer is only for the general public, not Car yards etc.

I'm only looking out to deliver a cheap but quailty service for my customers and if I can save someone a few dollars during these times then I can't see any problem with that.
